Honeywell Unveils First Boosting Application with Two Variable Geometry

Garrett debuted its newest Two Stage Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT) turbocharger system for diesel engines at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA), offering auto makers the flexibility in improving fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions.
Using a row of pivoting vanes, the VNT technology is able to match the turbine flow capacity and deliver the exact boost the engine needs. The new Two Stage Series Sequential system combines 2 different sizes of variable geometry turbos to create a new level of responsiveness for all speeds and helps the engine perform more efficiently to improve mileage and emission control. When coupled with a modern after treatment system, the Two Stage system meets the stringent CO2 targets of Euro 6.2 regulations.
